Formaldehyde detection Formaldehyde (molecular formula: HCHO) methanal, aldehydes is the most simple, usually is a colorless, flammable and irritating gases. Soluble in water, alcohol and ether. 35 ~ 40% of formaldehyde aqueous solution called formalin. Formaldehyde is an important organic raw materials, mainly used in the plastics industry (such as phenolic resin, urea formaldehyde plastics - electric jade) and synthetic fibre (such as synthetic fiber - Vigny, leather industry, PVFM) medicine, dyes etc..
Formaldehyde can be prepared by the dehydrogenation or oxidation of methanol under the catalysis of silver, copper and other metals. Used as a disinfectant and pesticide, phenolic resin, urea formaldehyde resin, polyvinyl alcohol, urotropine, pentaerythritol and dyes and other raw materials.
Formaldehyde hazard: Formaldehyde smell, low concentration can smell, olfactory threshold of formaldehyde is usually 0.06-0.07mg/m3. But there are great differences, people can reach 2.66mg/m fand. Long term exposure to low concentration of formaldehyde, can cause headaches, dizziness, weakness, sensory disturbance, reduced immunity, and can appear sleepiness, memory loss or neurasthenia, depression; harm to the respiratory system of chronic poisoning is huge, long-term exposure to formaldehyde can cause respiratory dysfunction and liver poisoning disease, manifested as injury of liver cells and liver radiation abnormity.
Formaldehyde related regulations: At present, there is no single regulation of formaldehyde in the European Union, and the control requirements of formaldehyde are included in the relevant regulations on the specific product. Formaldehyde restrictions currently involved in laws and regulations, standards, instructions, troops are as follows: Toy Safety requirements EN71, eco textile requirements OEKO-TEX100, the German food hygiene law LFGB
Commonly used methods to remove formaldehyde: 1 bamboo charcoal, activated carbon adsorption method 2 ventilation method to remove formaldehyde 3 plant odor removal 4 formaldehyde removal by chemical method
PTS can provide the following standard formaldehyde testing services: EN717-3 wood products formaldehyde test ISO 17226 leather formaldehyde test ISO 14184 textile formaldehyde test GB/T 2912 textile formaldehyde test AATCC 112 textile formaldehyde test Interior decoration materials GB18580-2001, GB18582-2008, GB18583-2008, GB18584-2001, GB18585-2001 and other formaldehyde content. |
