ROHS TESTING 1.1 The EU RoHS Directive Restriction on the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (Directive 2011/65/EU).
The main objective of the EU ROHS Directive is to restrict the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment to protect human health and the environment. The directive applies to all equipment operating up to 1000 VAC and 1500 VDC and contained in a list of 11 categories: Category 1-Large household appliances. Category 2-Small household appliances. Category 3-IT and telecommunications equipment. Category 4-Consumer equipment. Category 5-Lighting equipment. Category 6-Electrical and electronic tools. Category 7-Toys, leisure and sports equipment. Category 8-Medical devices. Category 9-Monitoring and control instruments including industrial monitoring and control instruments. Category 10-Automatic dispensers. Category 11-Other EEE not covered by any of the categories above
Since February 2003, the RoHS Directive has restricted the use of hazardous substances in all electrical and electronic equipment, including medical devices and control and monitoring equipment. The directive also requires the substitution of safe alternatives to heavy metals. The EU RoHS Directive restricts the use of the following hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. Lead (Pb) Mercury (Hg) Cadmium (Cd) Chromium VI (Cr VI) Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)
The allowable limits are 0.1% (1000 ppm). For cadmium, the allowable limit is 0.01% (100ppm) by weight of homogeneous material.
On June 4, 2015, the European Union (EU) in the official gazette published on instructions on 2015/863 RoHS2.0 (2011/65 / EU) appendix II amended, officially four kinds of phthalates (DEHP, BBP and DBP, DIBP) on RoHS2.0 appendix II. Four new kinds of phthalates limit is 0.1% (1000 ppm). 2015/863 specified in the corresponding transition: Since July 22, 2019, all electrical and electronic products (except for medical equipment and monitoring equipment) satisfy the new requirements. Since July 22, 2021, Medical equipment and monitoring equipment satisfy the new requirements.
3.%3.......China ROHS directive In January 6, 2016, the Ministry of industry and information technology, development and Reform Commission, Ministry of science and technology, Ministry of finance, Ministry of environmental protection, Ministry of Commerce, the General Administration of customs, quality inspection administration and other 8 departments jointly issued the “electrical and electronic products restriction of hazardous substances management measures” (Decree No. thirty-second, hereinafter referred to as the “ regulations “). The management approach has been formally implemented since July 1, 2016, the new management approach is also known as China ROHS 2, but its essence is China ROHS. “Electrical and electronic products restriction of hazardous substances management approach” is different from the February 2006 released “electronic information products pollution control measures”, to make a major adjustment in the scope, limits the use of hazardous substances management etc.. In February 2006, the former Ministry of information industry and other 7 departments jointly developed the “electronic information products pollution control measures” (Decree No. thirty-ninth, the former Ministry of information industry and other 7 departments also referred to as No. 39), requires the control of hazardous substances in electronic information products. However, with the development of the industry, the 39 orders gradually highlight its limitations, and therefore developed a new approach. And from July 1, 2016, that is, the new approach from the date of implementation, the order of 39 is repealed. China ROHS executive standard: GB/T 26572-2011 Limit requirements for restricted substances in electrical and electronic products; GB/T 26125-2011 electronic and electrical products-Determination of six regulated substances; SJ/T 11364-2014 Electronic electrical products limit the use of harmful substances identification requirements.
