 What is AZO

AZO compound is a compound of azo group -N=N- and two alkyl groups, the general formula is R-N=N-R. In life, the terms related to AZO azo compounds are: azo free, azo free certificate, azo free test, azo dye, azo dye, etc.. The main materials of AZO azo compounds are cloth, leather, paint, plastic, rubber, colorant and so on.

Harm and limitation of AZO
Many AZO azo compounds have carcinogenic effects, although some azo compounds do not cause cancer, but toxicity is similar to that of nitro compounds and aromatic amines. In order to protect human health and provide consumer safety, Holland, Austria and Germany have adopted mandatory rules to prohibit the use of azo dyes in consumer goods. In September 11, 2002 and January 6, 2003, the European Parliament and the European Commission also announced the 2002/61/EC and 2003/3/EC instructions, limiting the use of carcinogenic azo colorants in some textiles and leather products, prohibit the sale of restricted goods containing azo colorants colouring.

Currently the EU banned 24 carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes include:
4-Aminobiphenyl; 4,4'-Benzidine; 4-Chloro-2-methylaniline; 2-Naphthylamine; o-Aminoazotoluene; 5-Nitro-o-toluidine; 4-Chloroaniline; 4-Methoxy-1,3-phenylenediamine; Bis-(4-aminophenyl)methane; 3,3'-Dichlorobenzidine;
3,3'-Dimethoxybenzidine; 3,3'-Dimethylbenzidine; 3,3'-Dimethyl-4,4'-diaminadiphenylmethane; 2-Methoxy-5-methylaniline; 4,4'-Methylene bis(o-chloroaniline); 4,4'-Oxydianiline; 4,4'-Thiodianiline; o-Toluidine; 2,4-Diaminotoluene;
2,4,5-Trimethylaniline; o-Anisidine; 2,4-dimethylaniline; 2,6-dimethylaniline; 4-Amino-azobenzene
